You're wrong there. The first recorded terrorism was during ancient Arabia(mesopotamia and beyond), Imperial Rome, Barbic enemies of Rome, some Viking Tribes, etc. It's really all very debatable, since there's a fine line between conquering army and terrorists.

The American Revolution was before the French Revolution, and the Sons of Liberty were a group of terrorists.

you are very correct, i should have used quotes as i meant that the term was derived from "the terror" during the revolution... although terrorist actions exist previously (hell, Spartacus was a 'terrorist'), they weren't described as such until all hell broke loose in Paris...

The Latin word Formido(losus) used by the Romans to describe the enemy armies involved in a revolt, means " causing dread, terror, etc "

Sparatcus was called terriloquus by many roman historians, meaning he had a dreadful and terror filled way of speaking.

Mithridates IV of Pontus who declared war/revolted against the Romans was nicknamed Aversabilis ( to turn away for fear of death )

As I said before, the British crown considered and called " The Sons of Liberty ", BEFORE and during the American Revolution, Terrorists.
