I work in a buffet, as a busser. i get a new co-worker by the name of Jeremy. Me and him get along fine.
He needs help moving into his new place and doesn't have a car. I offer him my services because I just got a new car not
too long ago and don't mind helping someone when thier down.

The day that he decided to move was on a payday, so I drive him to work, pick up his check and go cash it, I get my check
Direct Deposited into my bank. I lend him 20 bucks to help, it's all that i could afford at the time. I take us out to
eat at a chinease restraunt - 24 bucks. No biggy. I lend him a vcr and a 13 inch t.v. till his from the rent to own place
comes in, I brought him there too. We go to walmart, he picks up bread milk and the essentials and an x-box. We go to blockbuster
and rent SSX - Tricky (it sucks for the x-box) and madden 2005. He bought all that stuff with his paycheck.

I fill my car up with gas. I bring him to work and drop him off for the next week or so......Even on my off days, i drive 10 miles
pick him up at 1 in the morning, drive 3 miles drop him off, drive 13 back.


Well iam getting pissed cuz iam not getting ANY GAS MONEY, and we have eaten out like 6 times within the past 3 days.

We get extra money every night after work, we get a % of every waitress we work with, anywhere from 16 bucks to 66 a night, is the highest i've gotten...

He got 62 bucks like 2 nigts in a row...

So i tell a co-worker, and she while we were all in the car, I was dropping him and her(co-worker2) off, that he should
give me some gas money for the past 2 weeks.

he doesn't - we eat at taco bell that night after going to walmart, where he picked up a dvd thing for his x-box and Friday Night fights/lights w/e


Today, ----yesterday at the time i wrote this.....I have to go to work @ 4 p.m. - He has to go to work @ 10 A.M.

I get a call at noon, from him saying that he couldn't get a ride, and was wondering if i'd bring him @ 4, and he'd
just say that he wasn't aware that he had to go in @ 10.

Iam like sure. --well i run a bit late because i had to fight with my sister before i left to clean up the house, and crap
so it's like 3:45 and iam at his apartment complex, I ring his room and run back to my car (expecting him to come out
in his work uniform(it's a casino)and we go to work) he comes out in a t-shirt and shorts, iam like screw that and i go to work...
I can't be late, I am like the hardest worker there and i've never been late to work...Heck just yesterday i slipped, dislocated my knee, had to go to
the hospital, and returned to work an hour later, ready to work...Today i worked with my right ankle the size of a baseball. Why? because i like what i do.
Anyways.

While pulling into the garage @ work, i get a call from my supervisor telling me to go and get him..iam like wtf and i tell
her what i just told you.......i turn around and go get him..

I walk into the complex AGAIN and this time i see his landlord, she's like are you looking for jeremy?

Me : Yes ma'am i am, he has to work today

Her : Well he just left with James to go eat at the Isle.(another casino)

((((James is a High roller gambler who lives like 2 rooms down the hall from Jeremy - he gets free food @ the casinos)))))

Me : well i was told to come get him, is there anyway i can get a hold of james?

Her : I can call his cell phone number

(so she calls, and what it seems to be is that Jeremy called out that day, and went to lunch.....)

So i am pissed and i go to work, 40 minutes late which i lose on my check.....so it's costing my money...


I do my job, and here i see jeremy comming to work like 2 hours later.....I ask him in the back

Me : dude what happened?

Him : Don't talk to me

OK FINE i walk off not saying a word to him for the rest of the night.....(this is around 5:30 ish)

now it's 10 p.m. and we are closing, he comes up to me out of the blue and
Him : WHy did you leave me like that?

Me : i thought you didn't want to talk about it?

Him : well that was earlier, i got i would like to know cuz i got in trouble for it.

Me : I'd rather not talk about it.


Was I an arshole? I mean i had to go to work, and i was expecting to get him and be on my way...he hasn't paid me at all for gas and
my car doesn't run on air....

Id be pissed too if I was in your situation. this fuckbag doesnt give you any money at all? and after all you've done for him. dinner, drives, lent him shit of yours, you've done too much and he's walking all over you. and he makes YOU late for work, cost YOU money, i'd tell him to find a new friend.

nah, i havn't said anything to him after that.....he found his own way home, my guess is either he called a taxi yeah right...or bummed a ride from some one else.

next time your supervisor tells you to pick up someone for work tell him to fuck off. dude, i know exactly how you feel. i used to carpool with these two guys 35 miles to our job, two counties over. one had a car and the other didnt. one thing ive learned with working with people like them is to not be too nice. guys like your coworker and the dudes i know are freakin parasites. they beg for help and when you help them, they just expect it and soon it becomes a routine. they are the most ungrateful fuckkers in the world. when i was at Sony, i used to drop this temp off at his place because he didnt have a car and it was raining that week. soon, he was asking for lunch money, ride to the liquor store and all kinds of shit. i felt bad for him cause he lived in a motel, but that sob story gets old when it cuts into my personal time. try not to get friendly with your coworkers, bro. just go in there to do your hours and then go home. you were right to be pissed, this guy took advantage of your generosity. dont help him anymore.

Your supervisor told you to pick your co-worker up to work. That's really not your job, but I understand that sometimes it's difficult to say no.

But because you had to pick a co-worker up (which isn't your job, once again), you're labelled late and get money taken out of your paycheck?

Sounds like you really like your job but if what you told us is the whole story, I would tell the supervisor that I'm not taking that crap, firmly, and btw, I want my gas money back. oOo:

Dude, you went above and beyond the call of duty. You sound like a really nice guy so I'll try to avoid dressing you down. However, you need to nip this shit in the bud. I'll be honest with you, I'm not sure I'd do all the shit you did for a chick who was paying me with sexual favors or my wife for that matter. What you've got to understand is that it is not always in your best interest to worry about who likes you and who doesn't. It sounds like through all the shit that this asshole put you through, that you are worried that you'll come off looking like the bad guy. Fuck that. Cut your ties with this douche bag. You helped him move, lent him money, bought him dinner, gave him rides on your day off, etc. He should be offering money to you. You shouldn't have to ask for it. Fuck that shit. Don't have anything to do with him. And for God's sake, don't get in the habit of letting your boss tell you to do shit that isn't part of your job description. As a matter of fact, submit an expense report for the mileage at the rate of $.405/mile. And the other guys are right, when your boss told you to go pick him up you should at the very least been on the clock.

If my boss tells me to drive somewhere or pick someone up I ask for the keys to his car, because I am not wasting my gas doing pointless errands not in my job description.

It seems to me like this jeremy see's u as a walkover and treats you as such. It also looks like he is with this james when he goes off to casinos in the hopes of sponging money off him or gettin the man love one othe other. To be honest its good to like your job but take no shit the will realise you are your own guy and deal with it. For example where i work there was overtime but it was till 3am (i finished at 9pm that week 8 1/2hr shifts) and no one would do it and the late manager was i a bind so i said i would do it 1 nite. I ended up doin a week or so and missed a lot of time with my kids etc so anyway he comes up and says "can u do overtime tonite" and i say no the guy looks at me as if i raped his sister then shit on his grandmothers grave!! suddenly no overtime available (for me at least)
The long and short of it was i waited and waited till there was no one who would do it and he came lookin for me and when he did what did i do?
I told him to fuck off. Now when i say i want to do overtime i get it because they know that for one thing i'm good at my job but 2 i wont take their shit and they need me more than i need them. I suggest you tell jeremy the same.
