Default Look what the Canadian Taxpayers gave me - 02-17-2005, 01:33 AM

Many thanks to the Queen as well.

It's a Tactical Vest! cool:

Here's the nifty manual the wonderful government gave me. Filled with excellent tips.

Here's the vest from the front. Got room for 4 30 round 5.56 mags across the chest, 2 M67 freg grenades, down below room for 2 smoke grenades, 2 multi pouches, 1 canteen pouch and 1 C9 pouch for ammo, and in the middle room for a bayonet. Downside of the vest is there's no large pack like we had on our old webbing to put things like extra socks, meals, ammo, toque etc.

Vest laid out with the back facing up. The right pouch is Canteen, the left is for C9 ammo:

The Vest is modular. The Queen gave me some extra parts. You can swap out C9 pouch for another canteen pouch or whatever you want. We're actually supposed to be getting a whole new hydration camelback system that attaches right to the back and you can wear with the new small pack coming in right now as well as the new ruck sack. Thus, you can remove the canteen holder, since your water is now on your back and add another C9 pouch. rock: Canteen left, C9 right. And we're also getting new flak jackets with ballistic protection that is supposed to stop a 7.62 round from 250m. Everything we're getting is compatible with everything else which makes sense, and is really cool.

The Vest on me. Bayonet holder is right in the middle.

I'm cooler than you.

The old '82 pattern webbing:
You can see the web belt and how all the pouches hung off it. The new Vest does a really good job of distributing weight.

Get to test out the vest this weekend. Going to WATC to fire M203, M69 grenades, C6 General Purpose Machine Gun and 84mm Carl Gustav Anti Tank Weapon. Should be fun.

If I'm not mistaken, it's the C8 or the C7A2.

Actually, here's the official word on Canadian military weaponry right from the government website:

Yup. I'd rather my money go toward ninty's tactical vest than to that whore Adrienne Clarkson. rolleyes:

As Zoner said, it's the C7. The A2's aren't out yet, at least i've never seen one. So right now its the C7A1. Pretty much exactly the same at the M16, with the exception it's made by Diemaco in Canada, and we put the C79 Optical Sight on top. Other than that its pretty much a regular M16. A lot of the guys overseas use C8 which is basically the M4. I've used it. It's nice. I'd much rather use the C8/M4 than a C7/M16. A lot smaller, lighter and easier to carry. You don't give up that much distance with it either.

No it doesn't. It is supposed to be used in conjunction with our new flack jackets that also have ballistic protection. So you need to wear both if your afraid your gonna get shot.
