Default windows xp home cd key from dell pc - 03-31-2005, 05:29 PM

can you use the cd key from a dell computer to another computer?

i have a dell, and you cant use the dell winxp home cd in a non-dell pc. (if you try, it says something like "non-dell pc, cant install". but what i want to do is use just the cd key and use someones winxp home cd and use the cd key form my dell.

anyone know if that is posible?

Yeah you can, it might tell you to call a number because it's been used. Just say that you've reformatted and now it won't work.

Why would you use your key in conjunction with another CD that is the same operating system thats already installed on your box?? I don't get what you're trying to do.

maybe, maybe not...all you can do is try.

way around that for those who format alot ...

tell it no you dont wanna activate at this time then follow above and reboot ... you get that activate shit again and tell it to activate over internet and you should be good.

follow that exactly and you wont have to call / reactivate again. i have the same copy of windows installed on 2 computers and use that method on both.
