no indeed, It cannot. Notice, however, the abyssmal acting on portman "YOU'RE BREAKING MA HEART!!!!" oOo:
In episode 1 she had a deep english accent, now it's deteriorated into a high pitched eastern accent oOo: oOo:

The acting in episode 2 was god aweful by portman. A few others were shitty as well, but some of it can be contributed to writing.

So did Carrie Fisher in "A New Hope". She starts out with an american accent, switches to a british accent, then lapses into a sarcastic californian for the rest of the films.
Opening sequence:
American Leia: Darth Vader. Only you could be so bold. The Imperial Senate will not sit still for this, when they hear you've attacked a diplomatic...
Darth Vader: Don't act so surprised, your highness. You weren't on any mercy mission this time. Several transmissions were beamed to this ship by rebel spies. I want to know what happened to the plans they sent you.
American Leia: I don't know what you're talking about. I'm a member of the Imperial Senate on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan.
Darth Vader: You are part of the Rebel Alliance and a traitor. Take her away!
Then later on the Death Star, she's from East London or something...
British Leia: Governor Tarkin. I should have expected to find you holding Vader's leash. I recognized your foul stench when I was brought on board.
Tarkin: Charming, to the last. You don't know how hard I found it: signing the order to terminate your life.
British Leia: I'm surprised you had the courage to take the responsibility yourself.
Tarkin: Princess Leia, before your execution, I would like you to be my guest in a ceremony that will make this battle station operational. No star system will dare oppose the Empire now.
British Leia: The more you tighten your grip, Takrin, the more star systems will slip through your fingers.
Tarkin: Not after we demonstrate the power of this battle-station.In a way, your highness, you decided the planet that should be destroyed first. Since you are reluctant to reveal the location of your secret rebel base, I have decided to test this new weapon on your home planet of Alderaan.
American Leia: No! Alderaan is peaceful. We have no weapons, you can't possibly...!

In the one Ep 3 trailer when vader talks, he has an american accent.
"Lord Vader?"
"Yes, my Master?"
"Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiise"
whereas in the orginal trilogy it would have been closer to
"Yes, mahy mahstaer?"

That's because it's not James Earl Jones doing the voice...just someone trying to sound like James Earl Jones (who isn't british).

While her changing voice may have been annoying or something (i didnt really care to notice) her acting was still decent. Portmans acting is just bad, combined with the shitty lines shes given it just ruins those scenes.

Plus she's hot. That makes it slightly forgivable.
Her acting can really be as horrible as da_bian's sex life, too late to replace her now.

I saw a trailer at the movies. Im going to watch it and, and enjoy it, not because it'll be a good movie, but just because I know I'll never have to watch another one again.
