I had a van catch fire at a rest area on US23 once. I was coming home from hunting and stopped to heed natures call when I saw smoke. I thought it was over heating so i popped the hood and saw fire. Out of nowhere some guy comes running up with a fire extingusher and puts out the fire. It turns out the guy was someone I went to high school with and I hadent seen him in about 20 years

Its said that the fire started by the paint on the firewall touching the very hot turbo.

I'd doubt the insurance company would cover much of the costs if this is true

who paints their firewall by their turbo?! The turbo on my lebaron runs over 850'F and its a few inch's from the firewall. Their heat sheilds EVEYWHERE. Theirs one over the starter, injector assemably, firewall due to the hea output. All this with a hood vent none the less.
