Default Performance - 07-26-2005, 10:42 PM

May be a stupid question but here goes:

I'm running:
AMD 64 3500+ @2.2
1 gig kingston hyperx 3200
Radeon x800 pro 256mb

In the demo i ran 1024 with everything high and AA at 4X no problem.

Tried the same settings on the retail version and theres no way in hell i can run that.

Had to move it down to 1024 with settings on medium and 2x aa.

What gives?

My machine is pretty good. It's not the best out there, but if I can't run things on high with the setup I have, people with machines below me must have a real hard time.

Im running those same settings minus shadows and dynamic lighting. I have a Radeon 9700 pro 128 MB, a gig of corsair memory, a Athalon XP 2800. eek:

Turn off dynamic lighting and dynamic shadows if you haven't already. Seems to run like shit on nvidia cards.

And oddly enough, if you look at the back of the box what do ya see? This logo.

The retail for me seems to run smoother than the demo, i run 2xfsaa @ 1280x1024 everything on high besides lighting which is set to medium.

You forgot the annoying intro movie logo. You probably forgot it since you deleted it before starting the game, just like everyone else.

The same thing has happened to me before where the demo runs better than the retail version, but not BF2. I would make sure you turn the extra graphic options off but it seems you've pretty much already done that so I don't know.

Read this, may help for x800 ppl [url=http://forum.eagames.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=3537&postdays=0&postorder=asc&star t=0&sid=1e94db038a0fc7e8c2a4f90edcbb39e9:ff756]here[/url:ff756]

Here is a Latency Adjust program...

http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=951

I tried this and it seems to have helped. also go into your BIOS and change your AGP aperture to 128 instead of 64, it provides more of your RAM to the game if its not being used [i tried 256 but it crashed so go for 128 and nothing below 64]. Read more about that in the BF2 TweakGuide. Neither of these tweaks do damage and can be turned back with total ease and safety.

I got 1 gig ddram, p4 3.0ghz, Radeon 9800 pro 128mb and it runs fine, tho I might try upping the rez, its at 1152 now, medium settings, no AA.

The thing that lags my system like a bitch is the blurryness when explosions go off, with that goin on i'm a sitting duck....anyway to turn that off? its cool but lags moi.

I tried that latency program a while ago, seemed to do nothing but dump me out of games. eek:

Ive found a list of bf2 console commands, doesn't seem to have one for the shellshock effect.

For all the Nvidia support my 6600 runs for shit when it comes to Battlefield 2, I finally get my replacement 6600 back today and went to try Battlefield 2, low and behold there is this huge fucking atrifcat in the center of my screen, and if I don't exit fast enough it causes a hard-lock up forcing me to reset.

had dynamic shadows and lighting at medium. i turned them off and i'm getting 80-90 fps i think. i'll try turning the other settings up a bit and tweak around and see what i get.

whats the second number in the fps? it's 80/12 or whatever.
