LCD help -
07-27-2005, 11:58 PM
I'm thinking of buying an lcd monitor for school, and I was wondering what to look for. I know a low response time is good, but what numbers should I be searching for? Any bits of info would be helpful, thanks.

Dell 2005FPW
Nothing even comes close. 20" widescreen, 12ms grey to grey, one the best lcd panels ever, if you get dead pixels/whatever you can send it back to Dell for a new one, no questions asked
You can find them on sale/special for uder $400 with dell coupons.

Dell is shit. I have yet to see one that impresses me. I have a Sony 15" LCD that i bought years ago and i wouldn't trade it for the world. Even though it does not have the high refresh rate like the newer models (bought it 2 years ago), i've never had a ghosting issue. Sony has been making televisions for years so I would hope to believe they could make a more superior model than a computer company.

Probably better off with a bog standard crt monitor for school, if you get an lcd find some way to bolt it down or it'll probably go walkies on you.
Don't see much point in you getting a 17" lcd, their max res is 1280x1024 which you told me you found to be a small res. 19" lcd's usually have the same max res of 1280x1024. Could get a crt with a higher max res for cheaper more than likely.

Haha, I never bolted mine down but it got permanently stuck to my desk. All the beverages that were spilled on my desk sealed it to the desk. I had to use 2 flathead screwdrivers to priy it off.
