Default memory problem - 07-29-2005, 01:46 PM

ahh ... I forgot what i was gona say?

Oh, listen, one of my employees pc keeps dying on him saying not enough virtual memory, I've never encountered this problem before and the computer is basically used for work( microsoft applications) and internet, but no heavy programs running .. Is this that I need more memory?

If it is what is recommended for non-workstation pc to use? something I can just pop in.

this is usually due to numerous programs that are running out of site. In most cases, especially in a workstation pc, its from viruses/adware or spyware. Tell me what your OS is and i can tell you how to check for and essentually eliminate these issues manually. Also tell me how much memory, and what kind this computer has as well as processor speed and free hard drive space

Microsoft Windows 2000
Service Pack 4

AMD Athlon XP 1800+
AT/AT COMPATIBLE
228,848 KB RAM
37.2 GB of capacity

Do you need anything else?

Well now that you mention the numerous programs, he was running photoshop cs, quark 6 and outlook ... trying to fix that problem the other night.

I just want to make sure that if the same problem happens, we could rely on the pc in question at a later time.

start > run > taskmgr
That will bring up the same window as ctrl + alt + del
u can also use regedit to clean the registry of unnecessary startup programs
