Default Speakers don't work - 09-09-2005, 04:51 PM

What could be the problem? They are plugged in and turned on, just when I try to play an audio clip on windows media player it tells me that no sound device installed...the sound is built into my mobo, how could I install drivers for it?

you could try 2 things that are off the top of my head

go to your bios and make sure onboard sound is enabled on your motherboard, if it is disabled, enable it.

go to your motherboard manufactor website and dl your model's drivers for the audio.

im betting its the 2nd one

Maybe the speakers are fine and it's your ears that are faulty.

I had the same problem. The cord that connects to the computer was only halfway in. It tends to have a little stopping point if you put the cord in lightly, making you think its all the way in - BUT IT ISNT!

I dont think that helped. Then again, when have you ever helped me, huh?

Perhaps "Uninstall" the drivers 1st, then go for the clean install.

Then i don't know off hand what the problem could be. Are you due for a reformat? If so, then do it now. If not, then you're gonna have to fool around with it to get it going. Post us your fix.

Its a brand new hard drive.

Akuma, its not muted, whenever I try to listen from Windows Media Player or any game, there is no sound and WMP tells me "Problem with Sound Device" or something along those lines.
