How is it rediculous? Rediculous because Ford was sued in the 1st place or rediculous because of the size of the amount of money?

If i lost someone in my family because of a faulty design, i'd want to be compansated also. Doesn't mean you'd buy that ocean front house you've been dreaming of. Perhaps put your other surviving kids through college and donate some money to a worthy cause like cancer research.

you relise ford is jsut going to raise the prices of their cars more so its just going to hurt us all in the long run. Honestly, I feel for your loss but come on...61 million dollers is NOT going to bring the person back and give you eternal happiness. just a giant cash grab for lawyers

mk, I place very little blame on ford. People were driving Explores likes cars. My dad has a 98 explorer sport, I drive it often and you CAN NOT drive it like a car. You have to drive it like its a tank on an inch wide beam. $61mil is a lot of money for a single incident. I tihnk its just a lawyer trying to make a name for himself and get a shitload of money out of a family who lost a child.

Wouldn't you want the most monetary compensation possible ? I'm not saying it's a fair amount, but if I was in their position, I would not complain.

Exactly, something along the region of 1-2 mil would be better, but that sort of price is absurd. If that was a fault in the car, that sort of money should have been made to redevelop the parts of the vehicle that is lacking.

1-2 million is no where near enough for a lost life (even though you cant put a price on a life, the only way they can compensate for that is through money. if they could do more, they would) . i just went through the whole settlement with the insurance company thing and i can tell you for fucking up the side of my face and the amount of settlement i got...1-2 mill isnt near enough for a lost life

however 61 million = oOo:

All of you speak about this like you have any real life experience with this sort of thing.

Their 17 year old daughter dies in a car, she's dead and gone. Their child, and you expect them to be coy with a huge corporate entity that built a defective vehicle.

"Oh we don't want to much, it's just our daughter." If you lost someone because of a defective product you'd want to ream that company.

think of it this way. if someone in your family shoots themselves with a gun, are you going to sue the gun company? no. its user error that caused this crash. I drive an explorer and it just so happens to be a model 98. while I admit it takes more control than driving a car.

Loss of life is a terrible thing. but paying that amount of money over a user error seems selfish.
