Hell yes. When I played Silent Hill way back when I remember thinking it would make a fantastic movie. I love movies that blur the line between reality and fiction. Silent Hill took several ideas from Jacob's Ladder, which was cool. This movie definitely has the potential to be the first good movie based off of a video game.
They filmed parts of the move The Island in detroit(http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0399201/) its supposed to be set in the future, but in one scene a huge mural of steve Yzerman is seen in the background oOo:

isnt it that the guys wife died, but he gets a letter from her years later from this place called silent hill later? or was that silent hill 2?
either way, they very rarely stick to the plot of the original games, instead opting for some crappy movie-adjusted story...i think the success of this one will depend on how closely it follows the story
The letter from dead wife was Silent Hill 2. The first was the father and his daughter going on a vacation. As they're getting close to their destination, he sees a girl in the middle of the road and swereves to avoid hitting her. He goes unconscious for a while, and when he wakes up his daughter is gone and the town is really foggy.
The actual movie will follow the first fairly well from what I've seen, except it is a woman trying to find her daughter instead of a man. The stills seem to capture the atmosphere almost perfectly with the game.
You know what I don't understand...they take the story from a game which is already pretty good and "Hollyfuck" it with bullshit cliche shit from other shitty movies.
