John Williams
Alexandre Desplat

Also on a side-note, have any of you seen that Mac commercial with the Pentium? They are using one of Alexandre Desplat's songs it's from Syriana and I can't find it anywhere.

Percy Aldridge Grainger
This guy is the man. He is a genius if you disect his music. He plays around with melodies and augments them and does a bunch of other cool stuff. He's got a bunch of good pieces--"Gum-Suckers March", Austrailian Up-Country Tune

Hans Zimmer is amazing.
John Williams is amazing, of course. Once he passes, I think Hans will take is spot (even though Hans gets bigger with every movie he does).

Vincent Persichetti is the fucking man as well.

Hans Zimmer is pretty good, I liked alot of his peices from Black Hawk Down.

James Horner, Glory had the best fucking soundtrack of any Civil War Movie to date.

Coleman knows his composers rock:
Grainger IS the man I absolutely LOVE his Irish Tune from County Derry, great trombone solo in that piece. I've played a number of his pieces in HS concert band, my director was a sucker for him, but for good reasons

Cory McBride
Composed Perilous Voyage at 15, obviously a percussionist cuz one of the trumpet runs is impossible it the suggested tempo a 16th note chromatic sextuplet

go to jwpepper.com to listen to that one (RealAudio)

The Last Samurai soundtrack is amazing... I still get emotional listening to it. Of course, it helps that the movie was awesome too...
