My dad is crazy -
02-24-2006, 07:20 PM
My dad has had several heart attacks in the past 10 years and had a stroke 3 years ago - he's very lucky to be alive. Anyways, in the past month or so, he's been getting very crazy, violent outbreaks. i got home from school last night and my mom told me that he almost strangled some guy in our neighborhood because he thought he was driving too fast on our street and he thought he would run over my nephew. People drive like dicks all the time, so i didnt think it was too bad cause i know my dad has a temper. But after the guy took off, he started fighting with my brother and then my mom. Today, my mom made an appointment to take him to the doctor after my dad ended up getting into a verbal fight over the phone with his mother. He has never argued with her like that as far as i know and so my mom called the doctor again to get some kind of psych appointment. the doctor told my mom that if he gets into violent altercations again, that she needs to call the police. I just got off the phone with my sister and she told me that when my dad was out with his friends at the DMV, he almost got into a fight with some guy who cut them off on the road. He never told anyone about it, so we didnt know. I dont know what the hell is going on, but now my aunt is thinking that he should be committed to a hospital or something. Anyone have some kind of mental illness in their family or something like this. It seems that after his stroke and him taking all his meds everyday, he's turing more depressed and angry every month.

My uncle was going through stuff like this, he had to take all these anti-depressants and just everything. Rofl, and he bought a Porsche to curb his whole depression thing, only it made it worse because he was totally broke, which put him into bigger depression. Plus this and that and a whole bunch of other stuff, he was a total mess... wife wanted to divorce, he hated his sons (my cousins) wife, he hated his job... all crazy stuff.
He actually went to rehab (He's in his late 60's, mind you good sir) for 3 months and came out straighted up.

As you probably read my mum went into a psyc ward about 3 months ago now, she was released about 3 weeks ago. However her whole personality has changed from what I have known as my mum for 19 years. Over 3 months the only thing I can recall her being my mum is the fact she looks like her. The hospital doesnt want to know, as they didnt know what she was like before she went in, but made an "improvement" before she was released.
I'm just making the point that your dad might not remain the same person even after treatment, with the same character you always knew. I hope everything turns out good, It will be very hard in the oncoming weeks/months, so wish you all the best!

You know, anything is possible. Wonder what his mother looks like now-a-days.

i havent had family problems like that per say, although there have been some dad vs. stepdad fights and the mom vs. stepmom rivalry never dies down i think its fuckin immature for a bunch of 40-50/yr olds
when i was a lot younger my grandma had alzheimers and she and my dad would say some pretty shitty shit to each other its a real shame man
i think if i ever get into a rut like that that i wont be coming out of, i would want someone to just end it for me
sry to hear about your dad tho mad hope he can get straightened out
