Is my computer haunted? -
08-18-2007, 09:00 AM
My computer is fucking with my mind, and I don't like it. Every night, I either turn my computer off, or put it into hibernate mode. I turn my monitor off as well, not simply letting it fall into hibernate. Some mornings when I wake up, my computer is on, even though I turned it off, and my monitor is on and stuck on the manufacturer splash screen. It doesn't do this all the time. I can at least understand something triggering my computer to come back on when I put it into hibernate, but how the fuck does a computer just decide to turn on?
I'm going to unplug my computer tonight and see if it wants to turn on. I shall triumph over this Beelzebub that hath embarked upon a quest for destruction upon thine computer!

Possible its got "wake on lan" activated in the bios any activity on the ethernet port would trigger it to come on.
I had a dfi board with this issue and this is what fixed it:
[quote:122a6]Ok, I unplugged the network cable and it seemed to fix my issue. I then went in to the drive properties for the NIC and under the Advanced Tab, I went to "Wake Up Capabilities" and it was defaulted to "Magic Packet and Pattern Match". I set this to None.

Do you guys actually believe in ghosts? I was scarred as a kid growing up in my house before we moved when I was in the 10th grade. Lots of scary things went on in my house..at 3:33am every morning for weeks I would wake up immediately and my dogs in my room would start going NUTS barking at the door. I was afraid to be in a portion of my basement alone, afraid of our upstairs bathroom, and afraid of our hallway. Relatives who stayed with us got bad vibes from all of the same spots, and my aunt saw something looking at her from outside of her window downstairs. You know when you can here static from a tv? I heard this one night SUPER loud and I heard voices from downstairs, thinking my parents were still up I went downstairs. I got into our kitchen and the static sound increased a ton and all the lights were off and no one was there . At Dover Castle in England I was in the Medieval tunnels at closing and was the only one there. The temperature dropped like 30 degrees and I could see my breath; every hair on my body was standing on end. I got the fuck out of dodge and booked it back upstairs, lol.
yes, your computer has ghosties in it.

My friends house was haunted. Turns out the previous owner lost his wife to cancer. When he couldn't take the loss anymore, he went into the garage and hung himself from a hook at the attic entrance in the ceiling. Oh yeah, i slept there a shit load of times and we always heard noises in the garage at night. We used to dare each other to go inside without lights during the night. I remember him mom going in there once with a handgun....lol, good scary times.

You'd have to look at a picture of dover castle to see where I was. Dover castle has been used ever since the day it was built...all the way up to WWII where they planned dunkirk and the dday landings - it was awesome stuff, I got to go into the top secret world war II tunnels etc. The Romans used it, and there are so supposed to be hauntings in the Roman lighthouse, and the WWII tunnels. I got some bad vibes from the transistor room, but the barracks from Napoleon and the WWII soldiers were fine, and I was totally cool with being in there. Funny story...I walked into the lighthouse (basically a ruin), and jumped out of my skin. There must have been 50 birds perched in there and right as I came in they all flew past me out the entrance, lol. On the other side of the castle are these medieval tunnels to this forward position? I would say. It lasts a few hundred yards and there are a number of different levels. I was quite far into the tunnel complex when the temperature dropped and I could see my breath. It was humid one second, and the next I was freezing. Not only that, but there were barely ANY lights down there...sure my imagination could have gotten to me, but when you descend the tunnel its dark and narrow, and the only light source is coming from the stairs above you. It winds down and around and then a staircase a hundred yards or so drops you to 2 other levels. I was on the third level halfway there. I could see my breath, took a picture, and just said fuck this and ran upstairs. I didnt slow down until I got to the top; thank god no one was around and that it was a rainy, overcast day...Id feel like such a pussy, haha.

I meant to say HIS mother went into the garage with his fathers service revolver because we heard noises coming from there. Funny as shit now that i look back. His mother stood 5'0" and weighed prolly 95 lbs but she was one tough lil bitch. A very good looking bitch at that too.
