There should be a modeling store nearby you, usually Meijers would carry that sort of stuff. Tamiya seems like a good choice but if you are just starting don't start off with something too difficult

If you want an internet hobby shop, try greatmodels.com. Great prices, fast service, etc. They also have a nice search function that will allow you to find pretty much anything you may want or need.

If this is a one time thing though, I too, would recommend a local hobby shop. That is if there is one.

Here is a shot of my new hobbies. I collect these dragon figures.
They are highly detailed 12" action figures. All the weapons have removable magazines. The MG-34 has metal bullets in that belt.
All the weapons have moveable bolts and all the accessories work.

They look like cooler GIJoes. Im looking more for the ones in the first pic. The guys are stationary and unmovable(i think they are).
