My ole lady is ready to get a new vehicle. She has narrowed it down between a Nissan Maxima or a Nissan Murano. Which do you like better? Keep in mind that this is for my wife and we will have a baby soon. Any other vehicle suggetions welcomed, as long as it is a four door and mid-sized. No suburbans, minivans, or station wagon type vehicles ( ole lady wont have them). Preferably sporty but practical.

Yeah Altima and Maxima have very similar body styles. You get a stouter engine with a Maxima and a few more luxery options. Anyone have or know anyone that has a Murano?

If you can find one - Get a Holden Commodore....Very sporty, mid-sized (As far as typical American car sizes go), not to expensive to run at all.

it pretty much comes down to does your wife want a luxury suv or a sports sedan. both cost roughly the same price and pretty much have the same engine. but if you go with the suv your wife is safer when it snows.

My mother just bought a 2000 Nissan Maxima, and let me tell you, it's nice.

It's got balls, luxury, looks...pretty much everything you need. It's a blast to drive. She likes it a lot. I'm kind of gald I don't drive it, otherwise i'd be asking my parents for money to pay for speeding tickets.

I believe Altima's have a higher insurance rate in the states. Which is always a hidden kick in the ass.

Tripper-- from the looks of things, I would have to have a Holden imported.
I searched to check it out and you were right about not being able to find one.

Maxima = 265hp v6. Thats what we are leaning torward. Going to go test drive the Murano and Jetta today. I know people with Jetta's that seem to like them, but I would like to hear from someone about the Murano.

The maxima is a tight vehicle. Very nice. The murano is probably nice too, I just dont care for the flashiness of the body style. Its a little too femine for my taste.
