Trouble makers in schools -
04-21-2005, 05:21 PM
I didn't know where to put this thread. It's sort of about education policy, so it's going here until it's moved.
Today two idiots (could be 1) decided to pull the fire alarm twice within two periods of the day....all being lunch periods. That puts a major kill in the school day because by state law, we're required to have a certain amount of time for lunch periods and the other periods would have to be shortened to make up for the lost time.
Last week it happened 2 times in two days as well. But they did catch the person and heard that they will be expelled. Some people may think, "Oh big deal. Fire alarms are always pulled." My school has about 3100 kids in it. To evacuate all of the students and faculty and to bring the ambulences/firetrucks/cops/etc takes alot of time and money.
Last year, we had 4 bomb threats within 3 weeks. Each time, we stood outside for 2+ hours. This stuff is just rediculous.
What do you think should be done with the kids that pull the alarms or call in the bomb scare? What do you think the administration could do to prevent these things from happening?
For one thing, our fire alarms have an ink spraying system. When a person pulls the alarm, it shoots ink onto the fingers of the person so they could be identified. This can easily be side-tracked by putting on gloves or wrapping your hand in a shirt. Hell, you could probably use a pencil to push the bar down.

Months of detention....Some kids seek expulsion/suspension. Parents should be billed for the cost of the Fire department call out.

sad thing is most of the kids causing the trouble are on welfare. They wouldn't have the money to pay it back.
I also left out that earlier in the year, a kid brought a gun to our middle school....OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL. What the hell is going on in society to have these kids be so demented?

Fire Alarm at my school can = up to $10,000 fine, and expulsion. That's tough shit for the retarded rednecks at my school, who have to use food-stamps. oOo:

That's your problem and answer there.
Crime is born out of poverty. Gangs are formed in low income places. Joblessness causes crime.
On the other hand, wealth causes crime as well. Just a different kind.
Crime and troublemaking is reduced if the slums are cleaned up and people are given a chance to become a productive part of society.
There are always exceptions. Some people will just be bad. My example is just a generalization.

yeah I totally understand what you're saying. (especially with the generalization and stuff). I do agree. There are many families that are moving to my district because they have already been expelled from New York City, Trenton, Nework, and Philly. They hook up with the Bloods and Crypts (nation wide gangs) and start trouble up here. rolleyes:

Don't ever remember someone pulling the fire alarm at my school.
But oh well. These "trouble makers" in your school will just end up failing at life anyways.

expulsion is a bit harsh imo... They should get detention for a looong time, possibly be forced into even doing some community service, things like that.

well i dont think they should be expelled for something like pulling a fire alarm, but if you call in a bomb threat or bring a firearm to school , that should be an automatic explusion and they should also be charged and tried as an adult.

i just read in the paper today that a highschool near by has banned the use of backpacks due to the amounts of bomb scares they receive. It's freaking rediculous that one or two people can affect 3 thousand kids annoy:

yeah this shit happens a lot at our school. We have a ton of gang related violence. I overhear kids talking about what gang they joined and how they can talk to eachother anymore. oOo: . As for punishment for pulling a firealarm should be expulsion + community service.

Violence seems to be your answer to just about anything. Try using your brain instead.
