AAN.net Game Server Update... -

For those of you who've been frequenting the server, you may find it's not responding. hehehe
That's because late last night they moved it to NY. The new IP is in my sig. And for everyone's info, you should notice a huge inprovement in your pings and lag. There was something fishey about our Norfolk server, but the NY server (we tested it for a few hours last night) seemed to play almost as smooth as RudeDog's server.
So update your favorites (last time, I promise) and meet us over there tonight for some real action. fire2: M16:
I'm experimenting... A couple ppl from the clan were interested in running stock maps a bit for practice. I'll have the custom maps on again soon. Not only that, but I've changed the name of the server on ASE/Gamespy (the experiment) to see if I can get more people to download maps. I actually got an e-mail from one guy asking me why his realism kept crashing his game (obviously hadn't been playing for very long and didn't know CKR was a server-side mod).
[quote="ST_Bazooka_Joe":396f3]heh, that sux. But on the good note, hopefully the move will keep ur ping up. Sucks that they raised the $$$ again though. hake:[/quote:396f3]
Diff. company, Joe. I thought at first that I was renting from the same one as Rude, too. But after I complained about rumours of price hikes they screamed at me and said that they are not the same as XGS. Although they claim they are the *original* XGS. LOL Not that I care... hake:
Anyway, it's $79/month for 16 slots (although I pay $69/month because I was already signed when they increased the price). The customer service isn't the best, but they do the best they can with limited resources. They have locations in NY, Norfolk, Atlanta, Chicago, Miami, and S.F. I may be missing one or two, but those are the ones that stand out.
Anyhow, if you need a decent server for less... [url:396f3]http://www.xgameservers.com[/url:396f3]
Hey boo drop over to http://www.mohadmin.com and send me your providers info, so I can add it to the list.
I will be looking at this very closely. To all the regulars out there. Let me know How the pings are. If they are good, it might be time for a server move, 79$ vs 112$. As long as the pings are good and the server is reliable I'm game.
Rude, the server's great. I haven't seen too many pings over 100 and usually those are from guys overseas. I noticed some people time out, but I'm sure that'll happen no matter where the server is. There's only a couple drawbacks to the lower price that I can see: the tech support isn't 24 hours, but they do have an IRC channel; they tend to make changes without notice (if you want to move, for instance); and stats are as of yet completely unavailable because of logging issues. However, the more experienced people who use these guys for a host may be able to help them figure out what the hell they did to screw up logging.
On the flip-side. They offer TS for no additional charge (not that any of you guys want it considering everything Jasper's done for us) and optional webspace also for no additional charge. If you want TS and MySQL included in your account (again, no additional charge biggrin: ), you just have to ask (they don't advertise it, but they will give it to you).
