Hey next Tuesday I have an in class essay and I need some good points for both sides of this topic "Can war ever be justified?" Please put which side and an example. Dont need to have both sides just an essay you need a good rebutle. Mr.Goldade for Social Studies 20 is the teacher who ever wanted to know that. Also I know he reads it for content not spelling cause last essay I spelt many words wrong and I got a 90% thanks...

World war 2 was very justifiable, we wanted to save a religion from being erradicated, we also wanted to save lives and stop nazi germany. Now war can be inhumaine and sometimes retarted I.E. Vietnam war oOo:

Do you absolutely have to give arguments for both sides ? Also, are
you positive the teacher will actually READ your essay and not just look for
mistakes like my teachers used to do? I mean, I could almost get away with
writing "and they all ate poo until they died..." because they never checked
what we wrote.

eh hem! I love this topic. I got into a heated debate about "which would you save, Hitler or Lassie" So I went off and kinda stunned the crowd, cause I never talk and sleep in that class. Anywho got with this. War is justifiable because if we ( America) didn't think it was then we'd either Be a Confederacy or German. We need war somtimes to help us with our economical problems and testing out new war strategys and weapons. WW2 is a good example because we ridded the world of tyranny and opression. Vietnam, for example, didn't really do anything for America except almost bring it down from the inside. Sure we invented alot of new things and came out with alot of new weps, but we also fought a losing battle that we knew we'd never win.

War is always justifiable to the victor. Since, most wars are not fought to make things better for all, I would have to say no they are not justified. Hate, greed, and power are not good justifications.
A better question would be, why can't we work to avoid wars.

Vietnam...a conflict - war that should have never happened...the whole fucking war was about Politics...it was a waste...sent soldiers in...soldiers came out...nothing accomplished...all that happened was a great loss of American lives. We let down our friends...the French too.

Going along with the above post, we sent soldiers into Vietnam, lost many lives fighting, and then shipped them back out. Lives lost for no fucking reason. Pardon my French.

The whole world had no idea what was happening in Germany/Europe...with the Jewish people. WWII was fought because of Hitler...

Heres some pointers I took from an essay on war i did about a year ago for a History question, suprised i still had it on my computer I did mighty well on this one which is weird because i quit the subject eventually, i liked quite liked history but we used to go through so much pointless crap i thought i was wasting my time. I tended to get very psychological when writing essays in school, sometimes missing the point and trying to manipulate the teachers into giving me higher grades.. otherwise it'd be morally wrong not to and they'd go to hell. ahem.

Different points of view or things to consider..you decide which one is more "correct":

A war is just if it is the only way of averting consequences that are even worse.
It may be right to go to war to protect civilians from serious rights violations (such as genocide) at the hands of their own government.

BUT its not really possible to divide civilians and soldiers into the innocent and guilty, respectively.
The decision to go to war must properly represent the views of the people
on whose behalf the war is being waged.

The Case for Pacificism!
Deliberately killing a person in an everyday situation would be wrong – it would be murder. Making a formal declaration of war cannot make a morally significant difference to this. Therefore, killing in war must be murder too.

But it is not wrong to kill aggressors in self-defence, or in defence of others’ lives. When people are aggressively attacking, they are no longer innocent.

It may be permissible to kill enemy soldiers in defence of one’s own or another country against aggressive attack. It is absolutely prohibited, however, to target civilians.

That man is the richest whose pleasures are the cheapest - Henri David Thoreau
