how do i get into DOS with out going into windows first?

and how do i delete something in DOS?, (do i just type delete and whatever im trying to delete)

and how do i put the old file back from where i deleted the new file (like i put a new file in but it crashed my computer every time on startup, even in safemode so i want to delete the new file and repalce it with the old file that is on my floppy disk)

Let's see if I remember..

Pressing F8 should get you into the menu options where you can go into dos mode, or you can use a boot disk to do it.

deleting and copying a file, I beieve it is delete <file>, and to move a file into the directory you do copy <source> <destination>, using *.* as a wildcard if you want all file to copy, or one * for anything in a certain range. A ? will represent any one character, while a * represents all characters.

Win98 allows you to boot into MS-DOS when you choose shut down. But if you cannot get into Win98 alltogether, use F8 like Holly said.

PS: MS-DOS cmd is del for delete.

I always say that people should learn the command line interface before
GUI. That's what you get for skipping out!
