Default Help with sound drivers - 01-05-2003, 02:29 PM

Hi,

I recently reinstalled MOHAA and now I can't seem to get the 3D sound drivers to work (miles drivers that you have to manually insert in the correct folder).

Everything worked perfectly before. Here is what happens:

I change the config file so that it loads Creative Labs EAX but when I start the game and open the console I see that the Creative Labs and Miles 2D drivers are both opened. I think this may be causing the problem. In the game then I get only ambience and gun firing sounds, but no footsteps or grenade explosions, etc...weird.

I tried all the other drivers and its the same story - all except Miles 2D Fast drivers....for some reason, whenever I try to load other drivers the 2D drivers also get loaded in the game.

Now I did update my Audigy drivers yesterday. I suppose I could go back and try the old ones but I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for me.

Thanks.

pick up msseax2.m3d and try "Creative Labs EAX 2 (TM)"

Thanks for the response.

I just tried that file to use EAX 2 and there's no change. Miles 2D Fast Positional Audio is still opened with all the other providers and I can't seem to figure out why.

Did you download the pack of m3d files? Unless you have the files you cannot change the name of the driver manually. This was done back in the demo days, but I'll see if I can dig up the .ZIP somewhere.

Yes, I have all of the .m3d files.

The 3D audio was working perfectly until I reinstalled the game. After reinstalling, I put all of the miles .m3d files back into the snddrivers directory. But after changing the config file it won't work this time around, and upon launch the console says that both providers (Creative Labs EAX and Miles 2D Fast positional audio) are opened. Then I get messed up sound (gunfire reports but no explosions, no footsteps, etc...) in the game.

Hrm. . .that's weird. I dunno why MOH would say theyre both in use, unless you typed something wrong in the .CFG file.

Ahhh..wait a minute.

Those files in your link are different than the ones I downloaded from the miles website...and they work.

When I reinstalled I erased my old .m3d files and downloaded them off of the miles website. That appears to have been my mistake.

Thanks a bunch!

MOH\Main\configs. Put the ENTIRE FOLDER in there, so there should be a new folder called: snddrivers.
