HELP: MOHAA reinstall problems -
12-29-2002, 12:16 PM
Much like other people, I had problems installing the patch for Spearhead. I uninstalled Spearhead and tried reinstalling to no avail. So, I also uninstalled MOHAA. However, when changing from disc 1 to disc 2, my cd ROM failed to read disc 2 and I had to cancel the install of MOHAA halfway through. I tried removing what I had installed and then reinstalling, but when I insert the disc and click INSTALL it asks if I want to modify, repair, or remove. If I try to remove, nothing happens. If I try to repair (reinstall) it stops right away thinking it's already installed. I've removed the file folder on my system and any registry entrys. Anyone have any other ideas??????

This sounds like a registry issue. When you uninstall MoHAA, not all registry entries are deleted, so your system "thinks" the game is still there.
You need to edit the registry and remove the MoHAA entries, and then you can start fresh.
Be careful, though, one false move can screw up your whole operating system.

Yeah.
If you don’t know how to get to the registry, do this:
1. Go to Start >> Run.
2. Type in regedit.
3. Have fun searching!

Yeah, I already went through the registry. Did a search on MOHAA and removed all those entries. Also took extras out of the HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Still no luck. Can you think of anything else I'd want to search for? Thanks for the help too.

Thanks for the website and utility. I ran it and it found a couple other entries for mohaa. I removed all as per the instructions and rebooted, but alas, no luck. If you have any other ideas, I'm definately open to them. I'll keep hacking away at it. Thanks again for the help. It's been useful so far.

Did you try removing both and reinstalling, both MOH:AA and SH? If not, uninstall MOH:AA too.

Manually, or did you let reg cleaner do it? If you dont follow one of the steps in my guide right, it won't reinstall correctly, that's why I'm asking.

Don't forget---there is also a registry entry in Local_Machine that starts with a shitload of numerical entries, and then has "Medal of Honor Allied Assault" in it also.
It won't come up with a "MoHAA" search. You have to search for the entire name.(Medal of Honor Allied Assault)
This entry is usually the last one you'll find, and once it's gone, you should have a clean reinstall.

If you use the reg cleaner in my tutorial, it will detect any dead, unlinked files only. He so far is the only one that hasn't had a sucess using my tutorial since about March.

Nope, I followed the instructions on your site for using regcleaner step-by-step. And it DID remove some items from the registry that were MOHAA related. It's still possible that I may have missed a step somewhere along the way though. I was planning on going through it again. I'll keep you posted as to whether it works or not. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and help. I'll get this damn thing working again yet. Seeing how I finished the single-player game in about 4hrs, I was looking forward to some online multi-player games.

do this:
you need to use regedit and clean the registrythese are the string that need to be deleted
open regedit and delete the following
hkey local machine\software\ea games delete mohaa folder
hkey current user\software\ea games delete mohaa folder
hkey local machine\software\microsoft\windows \currentversion\uninstall\delete{0DEA94ED-915 A-4834 -A87E-388D012C8E02}
reboot than you'll be able to install
probably its the same ass joe uninstall guide but you never know
i know somebody on another had the same problem but i dont know how he soveld it sorry
good luck

be sure that hkey local machine\software\microsoft\windows \currentversion\uninstall\delete{0DEA94ED-915 A-4834 -A87E-388D012C8E02}
thats the most important one to delete
