Default Metallica: St. Anger, June 10th!!! : O - 02-27-2003, 10:36 AM

[quote:124ce]Metallica will be supporting St. Anger, due June 10, their first studio album in more than five years. The LP, their eighth overall, follows 1997's Reload. The band hasn't embarked on a full-scale tour since 2000's inaugural Summer Sanitarium trek, which also featured Korn, Kid Rock and System of a Down. At press time there was no word on who would fill the bass slot left vacant by Jason Newsted two years ago.[/quote:124ce]

OH GOD. . .finally. . *DROOOOOOOL*

All I can say is that it better be as heavy as Star Jones with a Buick on her back.

Actually, I read that they replaced Newsted with Robert Trujillo who used to play with Suicidal Tendencies and Ozzy. He's a great bassist, but is a little more on the funky side. Well, he was in Suicidal anyway...

LOL oh god. . .Yeah man, there crap lately has been weak. Well, since Load really.

Here's some more info:

[quote:1f76a]For Metallica, who will be delivering their first studio album in more than five years this summer, the tour will mark their first appearance on American stages since 2000's Summer Sanitarium run. With more than 85 million albums sold worldwide, and holding down gold or platinum certifications in more than 40 countries, Metallica enters their third decade at the top of their game, largely regarded as one of the most influential groups in music history. Since their inception in 1981 the group has broken countless records, garnered numerous awards including 6 Grammys and engaged in several history-charting performances, including a groundbreaking appearance with the San Francisco Symphony in 1999. Their much anticipated new disc - their 8th studio album - entitled St. Anger, will be in stores on June 10th and is their first studio release since 1997's Re-Load, which debuted at #1 in 12 countries around the world and has sold more than 12 million albums worldwide to date. The boys have got to get back to basics, man. Do what made them great in the 80s. Crank it up, fuckers!!

Lars's drumming has become pedestrian, Kirk relies too much on his wah pedal, and James is trying to oversing everything. Drop the symphony, drop the slide guitar, drop the crazy old burned out blond women (Marianne Faithful...heh), and crank out some high-speed, uber-heavy tunes!

Exactly man. Ride the lighning, The Four Horsemen, Fade to Black, The Call of the Ktulu, Battery, Master Of Puppets, For Whom The Bell Tolls, Enter Sandman, One. That was all their greatest shit.

Then they went soft with songs like Turn The Page, Hero of the Day, The Memory Remains, Unforgiven II, I Disappear. hake:

Amen. Thanks Zoner, I thought we were a dying breed. I think they definitely pussied out since the "Black Album". Don't get me wrong they've had some good songs since then but, not like they used to. Back to the Basics, some good kick you in the teeth, metal of your ass kinda music!!!

I betcha they won't deliver, though. I refuse to get my hopes up about this album.

Now, Anthrax's new one and the new Maiden record to be released in the Fall...THEY will kick some SERIOUS ass!!!

Same d00d. It will probably be like Reload, or worse. I don't think they're going to go back to the way they used to play. I'll still defineatly pick it up tho, because I am a die-hard fan. biggrin:

Yeah man, since Load, I was like "WTF, who put whipped cream in Metallica's pants?!" I can't get over the fact about how great they were (Well, they still are but) and how bad they've become with this HIPPIE-MUSIC! heh

Don't get me wrong, SOME of the songs I still like (Maybe just Wiskey In The Jar) but they could do so much better.

I'm with you, man. I do like some of the tunes since Load. I think "Bleeding Me" is brilliant! But, it's like we're listening to two separate bands here.

I pefer the traditional version of "Whiskey In The Jar"...heh. I grew up on that irish/celtic music.
