Adding Music To Multiplayer Maps -
03-06-2003, 06:21 PM
Hi. I was wondering if there was any way to add music to custome maps I download. If it's possible can you also do it with stock maps? And say I add music to the custome map Omaha_2, and I run an Omaha 2 server will everyone else still be able to join it even though I edited the .pk3 to add music? (If that is even how you do it)

you can't do it. music is client driven. your server will tell one of the client's PC's to play a music track that doesn't exist on their computer.

Actually, it can be done. You are right about it not being heard clientside, bluebrooks. But any map can have normal ambient music added by modifiying the script to include "exec global/ambient.scr", and creating a .mus file for that map.
Of course, I would suggest asking author permissions.
The problem would be if different music was wanted for different areas of the map. Since the aux music channels are trigger driven, triggers would need to be spawned into the map. But the addition of normal ambient music is definately possible.

Uh..that was confusing. Heh. I was just wondering if I could have a .wav or .mP3 playing just on my comp while I'm in a custome map.

I think you can do it. Just play your mp3 and go into your game.

adding music to the game. -

Ok...first pick the mp3 you want and rename it to something very simple that you will remember such as music.mp3. I only know the code for mp3 files right now. Next take the music file and put it in your mohaa main folder. Then load up the game....when you get in open console and write
tmstart <name of song>.mp3 this should work but I don' guarantee it my clan and I use it sometimes to get us hyped up before a match. It doesn't work for all people and for some people you needent put the .mp3 in the console command so give it a try and see how it goes.

Wish there was an edit button. Right forgot to say that when you first enter the game u must type tmstop into your console....then type tmstart <what you named the song>.mp3 sorry i forgot about that.
