Default MOHAA won't launch; help please! - 03-13-2003, 01:10 PM

Hey all, I have a rather nasty problem preventing MOHAA from working. At all. Here is the whole story:
Some time ago, probably 8-10 months, I borrowed a warezed (yeah, I know..) version of MOHAA from a friend, to see if it would run on my computer and so on. It worked properly, but shortly thereafter my interest in WW2 games mysteriously disappeared, and the game was soon uninstalled. The burned CD was subsequently lost. Now, a few days ago, my passion for WW2-based games was somehow revived, and I bought MOHAA. However, it will not run. When I launch it, I get the console initializing all sorts of stuff as normal, and then the screen turns completely grey. All keys cease to function, the mouse pointer disappears and the power button will not work. I have tried reinstalling the game, downloading the latest graphic drivers, but nothing seems to do the trick. My computer specs are virtually unchanged since I tried the warezed version, so I haven't the faintest idea. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
peer

very interesting situation. there was two releases of the mohaa warez..one was pre and one was proper retail. i would be interested to know which one you used. but, i dont see how that would affect any game play whatsoever. i play with a warez copy, although i have purchased the game. i just have had no need to remove the game and put on this other copy yet is all. no problems at all in the tiniest bit with this copy that you wouldnt find with a store bought copy.

your pc is locking up obviously...some serious conflict or damaged program kernels or whatnot. list your system specs here including vid card, dx version, and driver version for your card.

bah i cant load that page for some reason joe. i would be interested to hear the results of peers adventure with this.

Joe: the page does not work for me either.
Outlaw: I am fairly certain that the warezed copy I tried was the proper retail one. system specs:
p3 800mhz
256 mb ram
dx 8.1
geforce 2 gts - drivers 41.09

the only changes that may have been made since last time are increased ram, updated dx (8.0->8.1) and the updated video drivers. another thing that may or may not be important: it seems the game is pre-patched to 1.11 (??). the console at least says version 1.11 when I try to run it. do you suppose I could try an older version? multiplayer compatability is of no concern (yet), I'll be playing SP for the time being...
thanks for all help so far!

Hrm. . seems that the host is down. Well, I've been meaning to make a new guide, so maybe this is the time.
