Default America, peacekeeper of the wrold? - 03-19-2003, 08:12 PM

Hey, I have to write some 8 page report for english. We had a whole lot of topics to choose from, all having to do with current events. My chose "is it America's role to be peacekeeper of the world?" I need "valid" resources. So I was wondering if any of you have read anything about US foreign policy on this stuff. OR if you know of any books that have to do with America interfering with other countries' business. I am going to make a few cases on Korean war, Vietnam, Gulf war, and Mog. But if you guys know of anything else, I'd appreciate the help. Thanks.

that is tough topic being so recent.....if you want articles ask about Infotrac or some type of service, I am sure your school has it? do not trust articles from time magazine, newsweek. only look for wall street journal, or if possible british newspapers and journals. try not to get too extreme an angle on the situation. i just wrote an 8 page paper on Poland in WW2 and encountered problems with soviet censorship. watch out for censorship and verify facts.

your best bet is to go with excerpts since you undoubtedly do not have enough time to read entire books

If your doing it on Peace keeping, dont forget we have troops now in Kosovo, and we lost 234 marines in Beruit, lebanon, in 1983. They were on a peace keeping mission.

well yah, but I wanted to get like, US opinion. You know like hippies saying that Vietnam wasn't our war. So we should just leave them to tear eachother to pieces. I don't know, it is hard to find sources because eveything seems to be opinions these days. No strong factual accounts. Thanks for the help guys. i will use those books on the vietnam. Anyone read any interesting articles online lately? Because I need some sources to show her I have been looking into it until I can get to one of the huge libraries.

This is a site that a lot of universtys use, I suggest you search on a keyword like Korean... These are case studies, you have to puchase most of them. but there are some overviews, take a look, and good luck,
