Default War and Death - 03-17-2003, 10:13 PM

My father called earlier this evening with some bad news, he is 83 years old a veteran of WWII. His doctors told him today that because of a heart condition he pobably has about 3 months to live, They said that a operation could be performed, but the risk would be very great. So he has deciced that he would rather die naturally than prolong his life as a invalid.
I agreed with him, he is a good man and has lived a long life
One thing that he did say to me tonight that I thought that I might share with you is that he is sorry that he lived to see the day that our countries military would be used by the president as it is being used by Bush. He said that he fought in world war II to stop just this kind of aggression<\
I will miss my father. he is a strong man with the compassion of ten, and I hope that he dies believing the good he has done, not on how G. W. Bush has destroyed his vision of the country he was williing to die for.

Sorry about your Father Low Spark, as Jedi said, God speed to him and your family.

Dont take offence, but I disagree with what your Father has said about the current situation. I will leave it at that.

No offence can be taken, my father has see lived a long life and has lived with the pain of the his om the part of the killing of 30+ school age boys at the end of WWII, for most of it, even though it probably could not not be avoided.

But thanks to all of you, you all are good people.

I can only hope your father passes painlessly, with his pride, and patriotisim in tacted. It is always a great loss when a soldier of that most horiific event passes. There stories and views of that greatest generation shall forever live on in the books, media, and thoughts of those still here.

If you would please thank your father for me.

I can only congratulate you for being the son of such a great person....This isn't an empty statement, for a man that has fought for his country for such noble reasons as you listed, and then to have emotional regrets for an action that needed to take place, is truly a good-hearted man.

I wish him luck in what ever he encounters in his after-life.

GodSpeed.
