Default Technical problem, Please help. - 11-28-2003, 02:49 PM

Hello everyone,

I have a very annoying problem with MOHAA. My game always locks up. sometimes I can play for 5 minutes, sometimes 20 minutes. Eventually, my computer crashes. I downloaded the latest drivers for my videocard, I always shut down all other applications using ctrl-alt-del.

More information about my system: CPU: 1 Ghz AMD Thunderbird, 256 MB RAM, Directx 8.1, RADEON 7000 series ATI 64 MB. According to the EA System Info I meet all system requirements.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

I just play the game. As I said before, sometimes after 1 minute, sometimes after 15 minutes, the computer 'freezes.' Whatever I try, nothing works but the reset button. It can happen at every moment in the game, it doesn't make a difference whether there is a little or a lot going on in the game. E.G: shooting, opponents etc. The screen freezes, I can still hear the sound but it the same sound over and over again, like a record with a scratch. Very annoying. I hope this is enough for you, or someone else, to determine what is wrong.

If you want to know something else, please let me know.

Regards,
F.A.L.

Your computer might be getting hot, most comps automatically reboot when it gets too warm, your might not, and as a result, it just hangs.

Does it crash to desktop or just lock up?

Do you have your pc overclocked?

It locks up. Only one button still works: Reset. I don't have my pc overclocked.

I know you didn't mention what OS your running, but try downloading the VIA chipset drivers. Most AMD boards use them, if not get the SiS ones, which ever your board uses. I know it won't use Intel chips being AMD so I would start with that, especially the AGP drivers.

When I run MoH, I have to run it in a window (press Alt + Enter in game) or it will lock up solid.

If I run it in a window, all is well. Give it a go.

I might be able to help with this one..about a year ago i was having the same problem. This is what you need to do.

1). Check if your motherboard has onboard audio (sound).

2). If it doesn't, then I can't help you anymore. If it does, continue to step 3.

3). Ok, you have onboard audio on your motherboard, check now if you have a seperate audio card. If you do, check if it is plugged into the motherboard, or if you are using the motherboard audio and not the soundcard.

4). If you are using the motherboard audio, go into the BIOS and turn the audio off, and plug in the sound card. MAKE SURE MOTHERBOARD AUDIO IS OFF!

5). Thats it, that was the problem for me. There was a conflict between the motherboard audio and something else I had in my system. Sorry if this doesnt help rock:

Thanks for all the help. I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, I cannot access my computer until this weekend. I will try the things recommended and post the result.
