I can appreciate the fact that "Murphys Law" comes into place (even in the BEST of situations), however perception of a product and of it's producer is critical in the continued survival of any company in business.

I've played several games produced by EA and all of the MOH series and still plan to purchace the upcomming games as well, and imho they are of good quality, even though some that may be a little more "tech savvy" see glitches and bugs from a standpoint which i neither care about, nor have the time to study. My point is "is the game fun, and is it worth the price"?...... As a rule I'd say yes !!

However: The preception (posted on many boards(including this one)) is that EA games is an unfeeling, unsupporting,Late, and yes..even greedy company dedicated to just making a buck!

In business, BUSINESS, mind you, I cant help but feel EA games had no desire to have this feeling about there product(s)be so widely voiced in the gaming community.

It would be in the companys BEST interest, to keep its stockholders happy, and its BUYING public placated by issueing some type of appology for the "untimely mixup" that occured today.

It may seem trivial to some, and a downright lie to others, But from a BUSINESS standpoint it may go a long way to reversing that "preception" of a company that makes a good product, but has a way to go in building a satisfied and loyal customer base.

Excuse the spelling.

Respectfully:

Hello Mung,

Thanks for your post! In case you've not met me, my name is Jon but I post as EASmoothie. I'm the Community Mgr for the MOH titles.

I understand a lot of what you posted today and am somewhat torn on a response because while I consider myself to be an avid gamer, I'm also an employee. As such, it's my duty to be as forthright in information as I can and try to remain unbiased.

We had wanted the demo to be available first thing today, but there were a few unforseen issues which prevented this from happening. Without boring you with the details, it became priority one to inform the community as much as possible what was happening with the release of the demo and to make sure it got out to the public as soon as possible.

I feel we accomplished this pretty well and had it available to the public by noon PDT. Not an easy task considering all that goes on behind-the-scenes. But considering that I'm still the "new guy" in the company, I think this launch went pretty well.

However, I can understand your frustration. We set the expectation of when we'd be able to deliver on a download, and failed to meet that expectation. For that I apologize. It's not our policy to string anyone along or to be misleading in any capacity. I assure you a situation like this will not happen again to the best of my ability.

Best,

Smoothie

when was the last patch for MOHAA made ???????? I know of a shit load of glitches and a few new options in a new patch which could make the game better. ex. automatically dling the map from the server type option instead of having to dl it unzip it and put it in the main folder. Little things like this could generate a much wider veriety in the maqps availible to play on servers. I sort of get tired of playing the same maps over and over again.

first I must say I have spoken with jon on many occasions and they are truly trying to "turn around" their online community relationships.

But he is not the one giving the marching orders. He is trying to be the middle man between EA and the online community. Which from my experience has been a tremendous improvement.

A company works off of how much they make. believe it or not we are only a small part of the people who buy these games. Most people do not hang around fan sites supporting a game. They will always cater to the person paying the tab and it may or may not be us.

All I can say is if you do not like the game, then send them a letter ( please be respectful and straight forward ) stating how you feel and what you think should be in the game or fixed. Promise not to purchase any more products from them. This works much better then any online petitions they will never see. This also works for any company.

Now this will take longer then you think it should. We might not be able to turn around MOH:BT but hopefully can make a difference with MOH:PA

I would also invite Jon to stop buy and check out some of our posts. It's not only us, PMOH, TMT and even the guys over at MOHadmin for the most part feel the same way.

we can make a difference, but it's not by making an ass out of ourselfs with profanity or being rude

PS in no way shape or form was this directed towards you Mungynuts I just know some asswipe will send them some foolish email that will never be taken seriously.

that breakthrough seems to be a pretty crappy game is prolly a bigger problem than it being realeased a day late.

i think COD will be a much better game than PA and this will affect sales and then someone at ea will actually give a damn.

agreed lysis. once cod hits with the former developers of the mohaa series in the drivers seat..ea will take notice and at that point in time..who knows. remember guys..we for the most part are the hard core gamers in the world. there are litereally hundreds of thousands of others who will simply buy this product due to its name and play it and not gripe loud while doing so. this is the base they aim to please. they know they can not please "the hardcore overly critical gamer". heck, we may even be the nuiscance to this company and all others in the genre. i dont look for any changes. regardless of what we say..they have a super extremely succesfull series on their hands. and business rule number one:

"if it aint broke..dont fix it"

would you?

Ok in all honesty, I agree with you mung, the expansions for mohaa have been fun. But, they haven't lived up to the original mohaa, they've added some cool features, but, it has that, "is this it" feeling. And Spearhead was grossly overpriced, I mean you can get skins and maps for free. It wasn't worth 40 bucks.

But let's all just hold on until rising sun and than we can all smile cool:
