Default 9800 xt or 9800PRO - 11-16-2003, 03:57 PM

I am deciding if i should go for the Ati(or asus) 9800 XT or the 9800 Pro. This is probably going to be my last GFX card until i go to college so i need a card that will last me a long time....

Which one?

P.S. If i go with pro i will get the 128mb

Well i would like to keep this computer cost around 1,500 and so far its around 1,600(counting everything)

So i just may go a little cheaper on the sound card. But... Prices may go down on all the stuff by x-mas...

I have chosen out the audigy 2 zs which cost around $80 and it is a great card for its price and it comes with ravenshield which is a huge pluss! But the hercules card cost $40 but with no game... So i still dont know! Whats a better card the audigy or the hercules?

The 9800 non-pro isnt garbage. Its about on par with the 9700pro. And if you are adventurous, and can find the right model, it can be flashed to a 9800pro (note - not for anyone but the most savy users).

The xt is a very little amount of performance gain for the extra price (+$200) over the 9800pro 128mb. Thats what I would recoomend is the 9800pro128mb.

Any ATI pro series card is supposed to come with HL2 for some time frame. Go to ATI and look for details.
