Default why is it womens insurence is lower than mens again? - 02-04-2004, 08:14 PM

biggrin:

[quote:4c946]WEST SEATTLE - A 17-year-old girl who was likely just days away from getting her driver's license now might have to wait until she's old enough to collect Social Security before her parents let her get behind the wheel again.

Seattle police say the girl and her 15-year-old boyfriend took her family's new Ford Explorer that her dad just bought for her to celebrate her upcoming driver's license test and decided to go for a spin around West Seattle.

Unfortunately, police say her premature celebration involved speeding down 14th Avenue Southwest at speeds witnesses estimated at 80 mph when she crashed into a car at the uncontrolled intersection of SW Barton Street and 14th Avenue Southwest. Even worse? That car was a Seattle Police cruiser.

The girl's Explorer deflected into a nearby front yard and ended up on its side in the front yard.

The girl and her boyfriend were not seriously hurt but they were taken to the hospital to be checked out. The police officer was not injured.

No word yet on any possible charges, but the girl will likely face citations for driving without a license.[/quote:4c946]

Smart.

Insurance is fucked up. However, its probably statistically proven that males are more likley to do something like this than females. Thats why insurance is higher for males. It should be based on a drivers own individual record. No accidents, no tickets, low rates.

oh, the chances of getting an accident should be the same for both sexes, but i guess us fellas watch Fast and the Furious and want to race, hehe..

but the reason they aren't equel, and our rates go down after 25, is because we need to drive, and they will get as much $$$$$ out of us as they can before the rates go down...

mine is only like $120 a month...kinda high, but not too bad..

A look at percentages.. this used to be on a site (corporateliesexposed.com) - if anyone has seen this before or knows where to link it for the exact numbers, I would appreciate it. I used this in a paper while I was still in high school as one of the examples of reverse gender discrimination in the late 90s.

I'll just hit the high points that I can remember.

Insurance Companies' Justification
[*] Raw numbers, men are involved in more auto accidents than women and receive more citations for speeding and wreckless endangerment.

The Numbers That Matter
[*] In the United States, the ratio of men to women drivers is nearly 3:1[*] When the above statistic is taken into account, studies show that women are nearly twice as likely to be involved in an automobile accident.[*] This was further confirmed by recent scientific studies which proved that women actually take several milliseconds longer than men to make a decision when presented with a situation similar to an auto accident.[*] Raw numbers, women cause more damage (both in terms of dollars per accident and total dollars per year) and also cause more deaths each year than men.[*] An audit in 1998 showed that a female who is pulled over is more than 15 times more likely to drive away with a warning or even no reprimand at all.

This is just what I could remember.. if anyone knows a link to the study please let me know. Thanks.

I dunno,
most people that I see who can't drive worth shit (besides 16-year-olds who shouldn't be able to get a license because they're too fucking retarded) are soccer moms.
They don't drive slow as a snake in Antarctica because they are "careful", it's because they don't have the skills to handle a car safely at normal speeds.

Got my license at 16, soon to be 21 with no accidents, no tickets, nothing. Since my first car, i have payed $150 a month, as an average. I cant help but feel that i deserved some sort of a drop after having 2 accident/ticket free years. But having to wait 5 fucking years for a rate drop is stupid. All i can say is i better get like a fucking 50% discount.

i just drove home from indiana yesterday from visiting my brother....so i was on the indiana toll road comin home, and i see up ahead two tractor trailers hauling fabricated houses. wideloads. immediately i say a small prayer that noone is in the left lane blocking the pass of these monstrosities. alas. there is a blue minivan going 45 mph (minimum speed is 65) afraid to pass the wideload, causing a line of furious cars probably about 20 long at this point, and i was one of them. its amazing how long those minutes feel when some yambag is being a leftlane hog. she remained there for about 10 minutes, not passing the truck....completely oblivious to all the other drivers around her. i could hear the honking and ppl started to flash their high beams at her...finally she sped up and passed the fucking trucks. i blew by her at like 80 mph with my finger fully extended. rolleyes: rock:

I agree. In high school, men had to do 40 pushups vs womens 10. Men had to run the mile in 7 minutes vs the womens 9. It doesnt really benefit anyone to get an A in PE, but anything else that can be taken advantage of will be taken advantage of. Women dont want equality, they want an upper hand. As for the insurance, I bet the ugly women get tickets. If you were a male cop, I bet a cute girl and her smile would entice you to give her a warning. As for insurance, I think it should be based on your driving record completely. Why should I have to fork over money to compensate for everyone elses shitty driving? Ive been driving for 7 years now and i have no tickets but some accidents (all of which werent my fault). I dont think I pose a risk at all. Plus since in my state it is the law to have insurance, companies probably feel that they can overcharge you because you have to be covered.

There should still be a law where people are shackled in like the city square, and pelted with rotten vegetables. This is one of those cases.
