Got Stuck Again! -

Well ol' Pic Axe and I were riding around today when we came up ona muddy road. I thought it looked really bad, but P.Axe said it did not look so bad. I told him to just see what the mud was like, and he did, he also got stuck in the ditch from sliding off the road. I had mud all over my shoes, the were 3x their normal size. Luckly there was a guy who pulled us out, but it was still pretty funny. This makes 4 times that I have been stuck, and 1 that I have run out of gas.
P.S. Is this a stupid post? oOo:

not anymore.
Those are al lgood 4x4's if you got 10 grand to spend. Buy a toyota pickup 4x4 throw in a 3 inch lift and slap on some 35 inch mud tires. that should get you through just about anything. My mud tires go on tomorrow(YAY!) and ill be getting stuck as often as I can. Hell Ill be trying to get stuck. And it wont be on some shitty dirt road.

Some of the basic rules of off-road. If it looks bad, and you have a 2 wheel drive - dont go there. If it looks bad and you have a 4 wheel drive and are by yourself - dont go there. If yoy have another 4x4 with you and a rope, go for it, just make sure hte hole isnt deeper than the doors. I've walked out of too many situations deep in the woods after getting stuck with out a cell phone or help. We got stuck in one hole so deep, we couldnt pull it out with another truck and a fourwheeler. We had to go get a flatbed and a 4wheel driver backhoe to pull it out in the middle of the night (lucky my friend worked at a tractor place.)
I used to go 4 wheeling for fun, now its mainly just to get to more hunting spots.

goign off-roading is awsome if you do it right. Its always to have at least trucks. Or anotehr vehicle ot at least go get help. A cell phone, winch of some sort, recovery gear, shovles(saved my ass more than my winch), and of course I cant stress it enough good tires.
As for the dont go through things deper than you door sleeping: I can submerge my truck and as long as I dont turn it off it should be ok for a couple minutes(untill I run out of air for the engine). And by the way. IF it looks hard dont avoid it. Just dont be stupid when you try to go through it.

Tires definately depend on the situation. Good swamp tires are not necesarily good sand tires or rock tires. I dont like submergin my truck past the doors because I dont like a wet interior and if you get stuck, you have to climb out the window. Also, if your engine shuts down while your pipes are submerged, you could suck water back into your manifold and crack your block. And if you get too deep and suck water into the air intake, you can crack your engine block (this one I know from experience, well my buddy's experience.)

yeah true. I jsut got some Dunlop Radial muid rovers. Ill so nbe finding out how good they are. But for mud, good tires are mud tires. Swampers and things are for people with enough money and the need for a bias ply tire.
Depending on how long I keep my truck which might not be long so in the future maybe with another truck Im gonna put on a snorkle and a raised exhaust. I already have a pretty water proof air intake. so yeah......

Anyways, just to clarify, this wasn't a "Dirt Road", it was what you could call a "trail through a black-land field with a County Road Number on it". If you know what black-land mud is like, you know what I mean.
