Default XP installation help - 04-01-2004, 07:27 PM

STORY

my video card was crashing a month or so back. so i thought the problem was that i had some kinda conflict of drivers. At the time i was having errors i had two drives. So decided to install a fresh copy of windows XP pro onto both drives.

BUT

I found out that the reason why my graphics card was crashing. It was due to non driver related issues (bad card). I found this out AFTER i had installed XP onto both drives.

SO

I got my new graphics card and everything works fine. I took out my Slave Drive because I dont need it

BUT, MY QUESTION

Ive been putting this off for a month or so. Everytime i boot up It has a list that i have to choose like this below. if i dont do anything for 10 seconds it automatically resumes installing XP

Heres the options it gives me:

Microsoft Windows XP Professional <- This is my slave drive, I have it unplugged and removed from my computer, i dont need it. yet it is still showing up in the list

Microsoft Windows XP Professional <-- I always choose this. this is the drive im using now, I always boot up on this

Microsoft Windows XP Professional Setup <- This wants to finnish installing windows onto my Master Drive, Which I WANT TO STOP

I want to know how I can cancell the rest of the windows installation
permanently, Remove the first Microsoft windows XP Professional option in the list and have it automatically boot up on the 2nd Microsoft Windows XP Professional option without me having to manually choose it.

thanks

sometthign to do with your boot file or something like that. when i was messing around with load screens I messed mine up. Now every time the computer loads it allows me to load 2 different options, & gives me 30 secodns to do it. if I dont select either it goes with the default one. I have no idea how to fix it but it does get a little annoying.

Right click on "My Computer" on the desktop and select "Properties" then click on the Advanced tab and then under "Startup and Recovery" click on "Settings". Then under the "System Startup" section at the top select the "edit" button and you can delete the extra startup lines manally. Be carefull not to delete the wrong one though. That would be bad.

i did the same

C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Boot and delete everything in it
if that doesn't work:
download style XP and delete all unwanted load screens - this will fix it. (if you've used it before u may have to buy it)
