Default video card suggestions - 06-10-2004, 03:02 PM

Just tried to run Theif 3 & It wont run & it gives me an error saying that "none of the Nvidia GeForce MX, or GeForce 2/GTS/GO video cards are supported." mad: I know i need a new video card anyways but this is just the straw the broke the camels back & is going to make me go out & buy a new one. So anyways, im willing to spend max $150 canadian to buy a Nvidia card that should last me a few years like my current GF2 mx400 did.. any suggestions?

You can get a Radeo 9600 XT 256mb for around 150. A good buy. Go to pricewatch and check out the prices.

Get a card that supports PIXEL SHADERS and DIRECTX9...

Preferably, something like a Radeon 9600, 9800 or the PRO version of one
of the two.

Umm... no. There is almost no performance difference between 4x and 8x AGP. We've bearly topped the bandwidth that 4x AGP offers with highend games.

Oh yeah... card recomendations...

Ultra High End: X800 XT-PE ~ $500

High End: X800 Pro ~ $400

Mainstream: 9800 Pro ~ $200

Low End: 9600 Pro or Ti4600... not really worth getting.

US prices, BTW.
