Default Bush Takes Double-Digit Lead After Convention - 09-05-2004, 10:17 AM

[quote="Time Magazine":8854a]
New York: For the first time since the Presidential race became a two person contest last spring, there is a clear leader, the latest TIME poll shows. If the 2004 election for President were held today, 52% of likely voters surveyed would vote for President George W. Bush, 41% would vote for Democratic nominee John Kerry, and 3% would vote for Ralph Nader, according to a new TIME poll conducted from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2. Poll results are available on TIME.com and will appear in the upcoming issue of TIME magazine, on newsstands Monday, Sept. 6.

An FYI side note:

I've been scouring a few different sites.. ABC.com, Gallup.com, etc.

All their polls show a statistical tie, however they seem to be dated prior to the convention. I think the Republicans are seeing the bounce the Democrats missed.

OMG this is so exciting!

Polls mean nothing. I learned this during the last Canadian Federal Election. Every single poll out there was saying it was too close to call between the Liberal and Conservative parties in Canada. Liberals ended up winning by something like 20 seats. Minority government, but they still won the election. Just because a poll says it to be, doesn't mean it's going to happen.

^ so true, the Liberals won more seats then I thought they would have. Ontario again upset and ruined the Conservative Alliance.

My God, the Democrats should have as well have taken a million low blows at Bush, it would have been alot more, ansd alot better.

In case you don't get coverage of any Democratic rallies, the entire running platform of the Democrats this election has been, "I, John Kerry, don't suck as much as Bush." All they talk about is how Kerry was in Vietnam for four months and that Bush is the Antichrist.

At any rate, bounces are common after conventions, so of course the percentages are going to equalize a bit more. Here is some historical information regarding statistics at this point during an election:

Short you've got to be kidding, the Dems took their blows at the Repubs and at Bush, and the Repubs didn't say anything.

Now when it's their turn to take jabs at Kerry and the Dems, the Dems whine their ass off about it. oOo:

GG Ontario. As long as the conservatives arne't in power im good...i just hope we see a better party than the liberals win, but ti';s still better than conservatives.

I think the kerry-bush election will be close...i don't think anyone can predict a winner at this point.

I kind of think that it would have been bad for the conservatives to win in Canada even though I voted for them. Liberals are just as bad though. Infact, every political party is full of idiots.
