i was experimenting with scanlines and i took this screensshot from MoHAA: PA demo and made this.
I dont really like the font, but i couldnt find any oters and that was the best one i could find. Im gonna search for some fonts for it but i like it, crits?

too harsh with the scan lines - try changing the colour and blend them in a bit.
I dont like the glow around the player either.

your selection is showing a bit ... to get rid of that white around the guy try this :
with the guy selected :
select / modify / contract | 1 pixel
then
select / feather | .5 a pixel
or if you need to select more you can either do :
contract by 2 pixels and feather by half , or just redo the above a few times until you get rid of the white.
: unless thats how you meant it to be.

This is about as strong as you want to get with the effect...in my opinion.
Opac on the scanlines in this is 21%.... thats it.
Scanlines also make text tricky, but you have probably already figured that out, lol.

bleh, ive never used them, but i dont think they are bad. i would try whatever with them if it were me. try to do something with them someone else hasnt. make them a bit wider and cut out the original image ...

you just put a new layer on top of the finished sig painted with a color (any, i usually try several), then mess around with the layer blending properties until you find one you like.
