It's been 30 years since Ronald DeFeo Jr gunned down his entire family here on Long Ialsnd on a dark November night. Killed were his father. mother, two sisters, and two brothers.
In the late 70's, a movie titled "The Amityville Horror" was made depicting a family who moved in after the murders. Since then, a few sequals were made.
As of this date, the house has been renovated to look different and the house number has been changed to thwart off tourists. Since i live nearby, i've been to the house and also to the mausoleum where the family is laid to rest. (I have family in the same cemetery). One of the prosecuting attorneys in the case was my college professor. It was interesting talking about the case.
