Default Half Life 2 Install Problems - 11-16-2004, 06:40 PM

Just got my copy of HL2 for $54.00 and when I'm installing at the beginning when i get to a part where it says " Your computer has Directx 9" or something like that I go to next and it doesnt do anything. help please
