Default Again with the disapearing .map file - 01-15-2005, 02:05 PM

this happened before months ago and i can't remember how i fixxed it.

my .map file was about 650KB in size. i went back to work on it . when i hit filter entities, all the world brushes vanished and sure enough, when i check the size of the .map file, it was around 70KB (enough for the lights and such). thank god for snapshots. if i reboot and then restart radient, as soon as i hit filter; entites on or hit save, i lose all world brushes.

i got these warnings though...

from radient (durring loading of .map file) WARNING multiple worldspawn <---that lists itself 7 times then shows the brush ammount in map.

from mbuilder (if i try and compile the .map file that's now around 60KB) WARNING Backwards Tree Volume.

clues ?

for some reason radient is thinking its got more than 1 worldspawn
no real fix welcome to the buggyness that is radiant

what i found out about the error

This was all I could find about this error. This is a standard q3map error message, not a bug. Q3map generated a badly- formed BSP-tree from your map. Your map probably uses structural brushes in a bad way. One reason you will get this error is if you have made everything in you’re map, including the outer hull, “detail” Select ALL brushers that form the outer hull of you’re map, and make them structural.

This error can be caused by several problems. The two most common are start position in the void or start position on a floor with a detail surfaceparm. Make sure that you place the start position on a floor made out of a solid texture and that it isn't too close to a wall.
