Default broken ebrake. help? - 03-19-2005, 06:55 PM

one night i had to use my e-brake for parking on a hill and i think i had pulled it too hard. i heard a snapping noise, and then i tested it and the e-brake doesnt work anymore. also, they are usually hard to pull up right? well since mine made that noise after i pulled it too hard, it is so easy to pull up i dont need to put in any effort. does anyone here know why this might've happened, and a possible fix i can do? i wanted to get it fixed tonight because i plan on going snowboarding tomorrow and the roads will be icey and on a slope. cry:

Just need the cable replaced. Easy enough fix. Shouldn't be too expensive either.

Take it to a mechanic. 30min job at most.

Stay out of my foxhole, pal!

If you lived in Taiwan, you wouldnt be asking me this question as you'd know it'd be YES (mechanics open till 10pm here every day).

But since you're in a western country, I'd have to say....you're screwed buddy.
If its an auto, just put it in park facing forwards down a hill.
Manual, I guess you can put it in gear.
Get a few bricks, too, for your wheels.

If the Car is standard then yes it's a pain in the ass if e-brake broke but whether it is or not I havent used an e-brake once to park or use is to slide around corners, so you should be fine put the car in park or gear and you're good to go. btw enjoy snowboarding beer:
