torture in the worst way to get information for a prisoner , they will say anything to stop the pain.
theres more effective ways to get someone to talk than by beating the shit out of them

Take a look at some of the travesties/bodycounts involved in other wars, specifically ww1/2 and historical warfare ( napoleanic, roman, medieval, etc) and you get a clear picture that war is much more cleaner aka less brutal than before.
Also, no one should say ( not saying anyone did, but before anyone does ) that only the US Military manifests bad behavior. The United States was involved with majority of the operations, they're a super power, they claim to have one of the best armies in the world, so yeah, of fucking course they're going to be under the microscope. A few things in conclusion. Do I advocate and want to humilate prisoners? No way. But does that mean it should come suprising to me that in the first digital camera era war that some pictures would surface of that nature? Not at all. Every Military in the whole world is a mirror of negative and postive social society. Assholes, Cowards, whatever. And it's been that way forever.

I agree Ferich, this is the "smallest" and "most free" the world has ever been and the transition of warfare into this new world is bound to be lenghty and complex.
But if history has shown us anything, it has shown us a progressive course towards a , as you put it, cleaner and less brutal conflict. |

I think the whole point of this is "The so called Good Guys", are doing some nasty things. Nations such as the US, Britain, Australia, EVEN Canada.. should be able to prevent their armed forces from commiting acts like these. Surely you wouldn't compare a modern USA to a nation such as 18th/19th Century France, or Nazi Germany.... We can not expect the same from "insurgents", Terrorism is their way of fighting back...... Terrorism is the cowards way of fighting. rolleyes: |

There's nothing wrong with comparing Armies from different eras. Especially armies from a war that ended less than 60 years ago. As of right now, you really have no full scale modern war to compare this one too.So really, what are you comparing these travesties too? Nothing. So what's wrong with comparing them to the lastest wars? Even though they're 40-60 years ago. Also I'm comparing the human aspect and bodycount of war, not the political atmospheres of the past which would be wrong. I can agree with you though.

( not talking to short specially anymore )

Some groups are obviously blind to the advances the United States has made in their Military, when it comes to lower casualities and civilian bodycount over the past 35 years. I'm curious to see a different modern military occupy Iraq and what would come out of it. And just as the United States advanced before, I'm sure they will again to insure some of these things never happen again. But I don't think pointing the finger at them is smart or realistic. A few people shouldn't reflect a whole Military.

The Iraq War is the largest war in over 40 years. The majority of the responsibility in this war falls solely in the United States hands, which didn't have many fans throughout the world even before it. This war is hard for the rich "good guys" because they're trying their damndest not to fuck up horribly in an unconvential/policing war , even though majority of modern military units are trained for convential warfare. Was it a mistake for the United States to go at this war without the UN ( for policing )? Yes. Do I think this is one of the dumbest and pointless wars ever? Yes. But too fucking bad, the war is a couple years into it. We need to concentrate on the positive and let the respected people take care of the morons. Personally I think the US has done a decent job with the little help they've had.

Still, the United States should know better and take care in making sure its soldiers perform dutily and professionaly while on campaign. We have accused other nations of human rights violations, so how are we to upkeep our image in the community if we dont follow our own advice? |
