iPod Mini vs. Zen Micro -
07-18-2005, 05:05 PM
Well, Im looking into buying a new mp3-player, and the choice is between the Zen Micro and iPod Mini (4GB version).
Now, I can get em for the exact same price of the net, but Im having a hard time making up my mind.
I know theres people on here from both sides of this conflict, and I would like to hear some pro's and con's for both of the players, before I make up my mind.
Thank you.
:EDIT: New contestant.
The Olympus m:robe also looks interesting, same price as the two others. Touch display and a 5Gb hdd. I hate tough decisions. annoy:

:EDIT AGAIN: Useless information; The price is 226,90 USD, no shipping charges.

exactly - the ipod is a fashion accessory. Micro is the way to go.

This is a list of all the features im sure you will find handy, I have the zen touch 40gb but have used both a mini and a micro and found the micro to be better.

THE MICRO! I love my micro soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much.
It has more space than the mini; the zen does come in a 6GB size...not sure if you were thinking about that either.
The zen micro feels really good in the hand. The menu options are great. Battery life...can't complain 1 bit. It looks cool biggrin: . The software that it comes with makes every sooooo easy when it comes to renaming songs and transfering music. I read somewhere that in a blind test, the creative players (and all of the other major competators--iRiver, etc.) beat out apple's ipods.
the only problem i had with my zen micro was that I wanted a case for it. So i bought this one: http://www.boxwave.com/products/armorca ... m#features It works like a charm.
If you have any questions about the zen micro, please just give me a PM or ask me here. I really love this player and would love to share its awesomeness with everyone else.

I think I can completely scratch the iPod from the list then. Now its just the Zen and the m:robe left. I really liked the look of the m:robe, and it had a really nice case to go with it aswell. Gaaah!, I think Im gonna go to bed now, and sleep on it... annoy:
:EDIT: This is the case I was on about.

you might want to check CNET.com for the review on that player. I've never heard of it before, so check out and see what they think about it in their product review section.

I dont have a real iPod...just a Shuffle. So far its great, had it for around five months already, and love how simple it is to control - I never take it out, always just reach in my pocket and thumb it out.
But then again, you're getting a Mini...
... now there are those assholes who buy the things to be fashionable and "chic", and others who buy just for the massive storage capacity.
Now, while it seems kinda ghey Im saying this without having one, I think you'll find Apple has awesome customer service. See, the fact that I had to go to customer service is a bad thing, but then again, their customer service was amazing. My Shuffle was having trouble turning on, so I emailed them, they send an email back at the end of the day, and told me to ship it out, which I packaged up the same night and delivered in the morning. Next afternoon, I get a brand spankiddy-dankiddy new one right on my doorstep. Best customer service ever - it was totally free, too.
