New computer -
09-30-2005, 08:08 PM
Problems already, havent even got it to boot up, whenever it posts and recognizes everything, i get this prompt to "start windows normally" or in safe mode, well no matter what way i do it i get this error saying hard disk or hard drive controller failure or some bulll shit. Its a blue screen with white letters. Anyone know whats wrong here? I dunno if the hard drive is bad cause we tried my old HD and it did the same thing. eek:

Any thing saying something along the lines of 'Physical Memory Dump', or anything like that?
That happened to me, turned out to be a bad stick of RAM

Sounds like the mobo to me or maybe the ide cabling.
Basicly HD failure is what it says the HD is fuxed but if you get same with a diff HD then wallbash:
Can u take a pic of the screen with a digi cam or somethin so we can see the error?

Alright guys this is what ive got so far, its a driver issue with the C: drive. What happened was my old mobo was what is it ATX, and my new mobos chipset is nvidia. Well since i had a mobo failure i never took off the old gigabyte drivers with the atx on them. So i hooked up an old harddrive, formated it and installed xp and nothing else and it boots up fine and im talking to you now through my new computer. So basically i need to take my old C drive and get the new mobo drivers to over ride the old ones. But ill do that tomorrow, im to tired. rock:

New mobos require fresh windows installs.

Yes it does, i gotta do it anyway because im swapping HD's around so i need to start fresh anyway.
I have a question though, since i have HL2 and DoD on steam and not the retail box, when i reformat and log into my account again will it just automatically reinstall the game and all that bull shit?

You'll have to redload over 4 gigs worth of files, back the gcf files up to a dvd.
