EDIT: another thing i find to be frusterating is how i will try to install XP Pro Service Pack 2... uh... it just installs but after it will come up with BSOD all the time. so then i have to go to sys. restore. any ideas?

control panel> appearance and themes > folder options > unclick show hidden folders and files.

Who cares if they're hidden? What are you trying to do in your Windows folder? If you don't know what you're doing, its best to GTFO.
