I know I've made posts about this last year. It's time for THON again. It's the world's largest student run philanthropy. It's a Penn State tradition to raise money for Hershey Medical Center and childhood cancer research. It's really an amazing event where "dancers" stand for 46hrs straight (no sitting at all) and get sponsors for doing so. Last year they raised over $4 million and this year they hope to make it even more.
Its being held in the Bryce Jordan Center (used to be in Rec Hall) this year which gives 4 times the room. A lot of people come to support the event from tv celebrities to sports heros.
The kids look forward to it every year and interact with the students as they dance for 46 hours. Every year they make up a special dance to do at every hour.
Here are two videos about it.

And my brother is head of the webcasting team this year so you can even watch it live from the webcasting which is really cool.

It'd be awesome if you can donate any amount of money. It's for a great cause and you know it's going to the right checking account (unlike those fanatical southern evangelical preachers on tv). You can donate online at

Cool stuff.
