I have been playing games for a long time, and this has to be the strangest thing i've ever seen. all of a sudden for some reason, i cant play any FPS games on my computer without loosing mouse control. heres what happens: I load the game (bf2, fear and Oblivion are what I've tried so far) as soon as i start to play, if i walk forward and try to move the mouse at the same time, the game starts getting REALLY choppy. i was in a shootout in FEAR and i would move the mouse left, and the camera would respond about 5 seconds later and shoot wildly. this is NOT the "reset the default controls" in bf2 bug, and im at a loss for a solution. im pretty sure that its a graphics card problem, but ive reinstalled my drives several times now. other then that ive not made any major changes to my system recently that would account for this I have an ATI Radeon x700 256mgs of ram, and im running xp service pack 2 im going to try to uninstall my card drives now, see if maybe that helps. any help would be appreciated. let me know if you need more technical info on my system

sounds like a general lag issue...
First whats your connection speed and also your ping when this happens
Second, it could also be computer based lag, this happens to me often. my computer does something while im playing and i lag like hell, but my ping is still below 100. try shutting some things down, on-access virus scans, instant messengers, basically anything that doesnt need to be running

I thought that but no. ive cut out all non essential programs and its still a problem this is happening in single player games as well, regardless of what game i am playing my controls get stuck for no apparent reason.

i tried uninstalling the ati drivers and starting again, but the problem remains. i also tested it on tomb raider ledgends and the problem is basically the same: the keys/mouse will respond about 5 seconds after i press them, but intermittently. the only thing i know for sure that i installed recently was my copy creative suite 3. but its been so long since ive played any games that it could be anything ive done in the past 2 months.

i fixed this a few nights ago and i wanted to share the solution. my girlfriend downloaded some crappy software and installed it on my computer. there was a virus in it that infected my twundk64.exe and system.exe file inside the window directory. AVG cleaned these files and now everything is fine. thanks for all your help
