Quote:
El Chorro is a limestone gorge in Andalusia in southern Spain, through which passes the Guadalhorce river. It was dammed in 1921, forming three reservoirs which are flanked by pine forests.
The area is most famous as being one of the best rock climbing areas in Europe, but is also very popular for mountain biking, hiking, and camping.
It's sitting next to the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes, a narrow pass having 700m height in some points with a very dangerous path called Caminito del Rey (King's little path). The path took its name because the official opening was taken by Alfonso XIII of Spain. This path was closed in 2000 after one tourist died trying to cross it.
Who built the path in the first place? It's a cross between modern railing and piss-poor safety.

so? Its just a catwalk on the side of a mtn. It it wasn't there then that would be a true challenge. Ive done hikes where you cross bridges made of 4 bars of rebar. Those 4 bars are the only thing between you and 500 feet of air with a rock landing. Stuff like that is a lot stronger than most people think.
