If you are running Windows XP, and have 512MB of Ram or more, then the ATI cards experience slowdowns when using 3d applications. This has to do with the video drivers, and there is a fix for it. Go to ATI's website and search for the driver for your card. I'm not sure if everyone card has this problem, but check it out, it's worth it.
