Dedicated Server Errors -
09-27-2002, 11:40 PM
ERROR: SV_FindIndex: Overflow max512 createl name sounds/weapons/explo/exp_interior_02.wav0
That's the error I get every time I try to run a dedicated server. I have never had a problem with the dedicated server since the day I bought it, until I updated to 1.11. What is the deal?

Are you still able to run the dedicated server now? Your just getting this error in the console window? If so ignore it. There is a lot of debug code that runs in the window for some reason. It will not effect your server.
Now if you server keeps locking up. Check out what map this is caused in and remove it ( as long as it's a custom map )
Good luck and give us some more info - if needed.

Unfortunately it's the same error I get in every single map, and it shuts down the console window. Can't run the dedicated server =(

Are you running any type of mod ( realistic, unreal, weapons ) ?
This would have a global effect on the server and all it's maps.
From your error message, it looks to be some type of sound mod with the original game or a map. I had one map ( sorry cant remember the name ) that would keep crashing the aa.com server. It was trying to load some type of sound file. Once I removed this map, The server was back to normal.
Try and remove all pk3 files and just keep the originals. Then if you can get the server to run, add your PK3 files back one at a time and see which one causes the problem
Good Luck

Try running the server in debug mode and enable logging. Then have a look at the log. It's possible that the error causing the server to crash isn't making it to the console before it's shut down. My guess, from looking at the error, is that is has nothing to do with the server but rather the normal debugging info we all see in the console. And following that same assumption I think the error you're looking for shows up after or during shut down.
I'm no expert, so don't quote me on it. But seems to me having a log from the game would be more reliable then what's in the console just a second or two before shutting down.

Thanks for the help, guys. I'll definitely look into the whole log deal and see if perhaps I am missing something. As far as the pk3 thing, I went and traced the file and the path that the console is calling and they both seem to be intact, the sound plays perfectly. If this is the case, should I still remove all my pk3s? (I am a founding member of the 203rd, we don't allow our players to use enhancement mods so they are all explosion/blood patch/skins/maps)

You siad this was happening on the server. You do not need to run any sound mods on your dedicated server.
Only the clients need to run them. The only custom pk3 files you shoud run on the server are:
maps
map fixes
skins ( so your players can see what skins others are wearing if you allow this)
game play mods ( realism or non-realism mods )
I would not add sound mods unless this box shares the computer and MOH with a client.
But to me it sounds like a sound mod running in dedicated mode casuing your problem

How do I make it so that the dedicated server doesn't read the PK3s I use personally? Also, I got a log and the only thing it said after the error message was SERVER SHUTDOWN. Sorry if I'm a bother, I'm just confused.

If your using the same box to play on and server from but not at the same time dont worry about it.
it is only a problem if the box is setup as a dedicated server without a sound card.
